Weekly Tips and Tricks – 16th May 2023
Hope you all had a great weekend and a fantastic start to the week 😊
Do Listings = Sales?
When it comes to selling on Etsy, one really important part of your strategy is making sure you fill out your store with a volume of products with a diversity of tags.
Especially when you are just starting out – its important to pour 100% of your time into creating high quality products because Etsy is a search based site.
This basically means that the more you have on the platform, the more exposure you get = more traffic = more sales.
The number of listings you have is directly tied to your sales but let’s break down why this is.
Increased Visibility: The more listings you have, the more chances there are for a potential buyer to find your products. Each listing essentially serves as a separate entry point to your shop. With more listings, you’re not only providing more opportunities for your shop to be discovered, but also increasing your chances of appearing in search results.
Variety for Customers at Different Points in their Journey: A high volume of listings provides a wide variety of options for customers – with products for them at different stages of their buying journey. This makes your shop more appealing and increases the likelihood that shoppers will find something they love and make a purchase – but also that they will return at a later stage because they can see things they might not be quite ready for yet, but are perfect for them in the future.
Extended Exposure Window: When you create a new listing on Etsy, it gets a bit of a boost in the search engine while Etsy gets some data on it and finds out where it should sit eventually. It then will drop back down until at around 30 days it will establish in search. By creating products regularly you can leverage this exposure window to bring extra traffic to your store, and grow faster.
Customer Perception: A high volume of listings can make your shop look more professional and established, which can help build trust with potential buyers. It shows that you have a serious commitment to your business.
Opportunity for Data Analysis: With more listings, you can gather more data about what works and what doesn’t in terms of pricing, product preference, and more. This can inform your future decisions and help you optimize your business strategy.
Potential for More Sales: Finally, and most obviously, the more items you have for sale, the more sales you can potentially make. Every listing is an opportunity for a sale.
While creating a volume of listings can be advantageous, it’s crucial to maintain the quality of your products and listings. Be sure to include clear, well-lit photos, detailed descriptions, and accurate tags and keywords for each item. Don’t just go in and make 500 of the same product – follow trends and think carefully about what your customer wants. The balance of quantity and quality will ultimately drive your Etsy shop’s success.
Have a wonderful productive week.
