Hope you all had a great week 😊 I get asked a lot if you can use Etsy as a tool to grow your coaching or course creation business – essentially as a sales funnel.
In the past, it has been a huge driver of traffic to my central business – so much so that this week my team and I have been doing just this – building out an Etsy store full of the perfect digital products that my audience loves and needs. So yes, in my opinion, Etsy can be used as a sales funnel to drive traffic and sales to your business.
Etsy is an online marketplace with over 81 million active buyers and 4.4 million active sellers, Etsy is a popular platform for businesses to sell their products and reach a wider audience. That’s huge potential via the search – and an incredibly powerful way to drive extra traffic to the bigger offers in your business.
When we were mapping out our store this week – here’s what we made sure we are including:
- Create a well-designed and optimized Etsy store: Your Etsy store should have a clear and consistent brand identity, high-quality product images, and detailed descriptions of your products. Use relevant keywords in your store and product titles and descriptions to improve your visibility in Etsy’s search results. We went through and redid the branding, banner & about us sections along with updating the FAQs and shop policies.
- The perfect products to attract our ideal customer: The store has been well planned out with only products that are perfect for the type of person we want to attract. Along with this, we used Insight Factory to create trend-based titles and tags and optimize the SEO of our new listings.
- Customer journey plan: We have a thoughtfully mapped out customer journey from purchase to the download which not only provides the products in a clear way, but also encourages them to sign up to our email list, check out our social media & our memberships. It’s important to note; you can not simply take emails from a sale and add them to your email list as this is against Etsy policy however you definitely can encourage them to join your list with an irresistible freebie.
- A customer sales funnel: We also built a custom sales funnel just for people who sign up for the memberships & courses via Etsy – this is not only so we can optimize the experience, but we can also see clearly how many sign ups have resulted from the store. It’s always important to have things trackable so you can get a confirmation that your time and effort is paying off.
We will report back in a couple of months as we build out the new store and I’ll share the results with you but hopefully, you now, have a bit of an idea on how you can use not only Etsy but really any external marketplace to leverage the search traffic for your own business.
