Hey friend! ย

When I started my crazy passive income journey, I did it with a baby in my arms (Elijah was only 4 months old). There were so many times I was overly hard on myself, frustrated by my slow progress and just a little angry about my situation – at the time, we were living in a house so run down that the taps ran orange when we wanted a glass of water. It felt like I needed fast progress, but I was a snailโ€ฆ

But you see the thing about building passive income streams is that you need to put in the upfront effort in order to reap the rewards. It isnโ€™t easy, and I always look at it almost like a bank, where you invest your time and then somewhere in the future that hard work comes back.

So, why am I telling you this? I have been getting a lot of emails from people saying they have tried creating digital products and they just aren’t making money. When I dig deeper, it seems that they all have one thing in common… they haven’t created enough products or sometimes they have created only one or two products and it hasnโ€™t worked on the first try.

You see, people seem to be under the impression that if they make a handful of products they will make a full-time income. I know there are a lot of people out there telling you this and, oh, how I wish this was true. Unfortunately, when you have this expectation, you are going to be disappointed, as you do need to create a large volume of products in order to have a very successful store on a marketplace like Etsy – it’s just a fact. Because you are competing against other products and the best way to combat it – you guessed it – volume.ย

I donโ€™t know if it’s because I am a huge food enthusiast, but I have always imagined it like a giant pie. And then to take a piece of the market, you need a proportionate number of products to make up the slice you are going to take.ย

But the reason I love this, is that there is delicious pie-sized hope at the end of the tunnel – numbers. Numbers are something you can rely on and numbers are something you are in control of.

You, regardless of your time constraints or situation, have pockets of time you can repurpose. Repurpose those into digital products, and bit by bit, brick by brick, you start to build something – something that is yours and no one can take away from you.

I am never going to be one of those coaches that tell you that you can make a fortune quickly with little effort. Because itโ€™s just a marketing tactic people use to have you sign onto this or that program.

But what I will tell you is you can make progress, real life – life-changing progress, step-by-step. And that is enough – it’s enough for most people who basically want the freedom to create, be with their families and work on their own terms.

What do you really want?

Is it the hype sold champagne dream with the fast car and the big house? Or is it stability, security for those you love, and the option to choose.

Choose to work, choose your own hours, choose your own destiny.

So if there is one piece of advice I can give you – is eye on the prize and work for it. Because you can repurpose those pockets of time where you would be watching Netflix. Instead of scrolling social media, work on a plan of action that will take you to the next level. Instead of seeing your own business as the work you have to do, see it as the thing that makes your heart glow and embrace it.

And also a quick reminder to be kind to yourself, because itโ€™s not always fast, and that’s OK. As long as you donโ€™t give up, you will always be moving incrementally forward with small gains that can make big changes in your life.

Wishing you a fantastic week!

Best regards,

Jessa B
